Zachary Johnson
Zach is a rising fourth-year medical student at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. He is originally from Littleton, Colorado and before medical school, he completed his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Solid Mechanics at Villanova University as well as his M.S. in Biomedical Sciences from Regis University. Zach is planning to pursue a career in orthopedic surgery. His research interests include spine surgery, sports medicine, joint arthroplasty, and biomechanics. His VTCSOM primary project focuses on investigating the impact of direct lateral interbody fusion on short-term functional performance and patient-reported outcomes in patients undergoing lumbar fusion surgery. Zach enjoys being outdoors, skiing, playing soccer, basketball, and golf and spending time with his wife, family, and friends.
